There are lots of must visit places in Mysore -The Heritage City. Mysore is the second largest city in the state of Karnataka, located approximately 140 kms far from Bangalore and one of the best tourist place near Bangalore. Mysore is also known as City of Palaces. Mysore is famous for the Dussehra celebrations during which a large number of tourists visit the city. 

In Hindu mythology, stated that Mysore was ruled by Mahishasura a demon and the demon was later on killed by Goddess Chamundeshwari. Till the 15th century the area where Mysore stands today, was known as Puragere. The beautiful fort was constructed in the year 1524 by Chamaraja Wodeyar III. 

Mysore is also known for its rich sandalwood and silk along with the various fairs and festivals which leave a lasting impression on the tourists visiting this city. Brindavan Gardens, Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hills, St. Philomena’s Church, The Art Gallery, Zoo and the Karanji Lake Nature Park are the important sight seeing places in Mysore.
